Demand for tax-free gold has soared in the wake of tighter Capital Gains Tax rules introduced last October. At Solomon Global alone, we have seen inquiries jump 72% from late 2024 to the first half of 2025.

New data from over 14,000 website registrants shows that 42% of investors now cite tax efficiency as their main reason for considering gold, up from 38% in the previous period. In the UK, investment-grade gold is VAT-free, and Royal Mint bullion coins are also exempt from Capital Gains Tax, with no limit on tax-free gains.

Wealth protection was the second most common motivation at 26%, followed closely by annual growth at 25.8%. Interest in gold as an inflation hedge remained steady at just under 6%.

Gold’s performance has matched investor optimism: prices rose more than 40% between July 2024 and June 2025.

“Investors are becoming more aware of gold’s unique tax benefits,” said Paul Williams, Managing Director at Solomon Global. “It’s not just about diversification anymore – it’s a smart, tax-efficient response to rising economic pressure.”
