New Royal Mint Bullion Coin Available to Pre-Order from Solomon Global.
The British Lion Bullion Coin Range
The Royal Mint has released a new, rare coin with a global mintage of just 5,000. Struck in 1oz of 999.9 fine gold and finished to bullion standard, this highly limited coin, featuring a heraldic lion is the first in The Royal Mint’s brand-new bullion coin range and marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for investors and numismatists.
The PCGS Certified 2025 The British Lion 1oz Gold Coin is now available to pre-order from Solomon Global.
A Timeless Emblem of British Strength and Pride
The reverse of the coin, inscribed with ‘Leo Britannicus,’ features one of the most iconic and enduring of national emblems: the heraldic lion, long associated with strength, courage, and pride. The design – by David Lawrence – includes a Union Flag surface animation, which adds a striking visual effect and provides an advanced layer of security, bringing together traditional British symbolism, enhanced aesthetics, and state-of-the-art minting technology.
The obverse displays the portrait of King Charles III, created by acclaimed sculptor Martin Jennings.
“This is an exciting opportunity to secure the inaugural release in a fresh, rare and highly anticipated bullion offering from The Royal Mint,” said Paul Williams, Managing Director at Solomon Global. “Featuring the symbolic heraldic lion, this coin boasts historical significance and has strong investment appeal. With only 5,000 struck worldwide and exemption from Capital Gains Tax, it offers an exceptional combination of scarcity, heritage, and tax efficiency. As a trusted supplier of physical gold, we’re delighted to provide early access to a release that we expect to generate significant interest from both collectors and investors.”
Low mintage: just 5,000 coins worldwide
Only 5,000 coins will be issued globally, which is in line with the Royal Arms, until now one of the lowest production coins produced annually by The Royal Mint. For comparison, estimates suggest annual production figures for the annual 1oz Britannia coin are in the region of 150,000, highlighting the British Lion’s scarcity.
Notable features of the British Lion 1oz Gold Coin (2025)
In addition to the advanced security feature provided by the surface animation, the coin comes in a secure capsule. Solomon Global offers this coin PCGS certified, meaning it has been independently graded and authenticated by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). Certification provides market confidence in quality and condition meaning these coins can command significant premiums over time. As it is a bullion coin issued by The Royal Mint, it is also exempt from Capital Gains Tax for UK residents (gold is also exempt from VAT).
