PCGS Certified 2026 Liberty and Britannia 1oz Gold Coin
Product Description
The 2026 Britannia & Liberty 1 oz Gold Bullion Coin
The 2026 Britannia and Liberty 1 oz Gold Coin marks the third release in the celebrated bullion series created through a landmark collaboration between The Royal Mint and the United States Mint. Struck in 999.9 fine, 24 carat gold, this exceptional coin continues to honour the enduring special relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States through a powerful shared design.
This 2026 release brings together the artistic expertise of Gordon Summers, Chief Engraver of The Royal Mint, and Joseph Menna, Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. The reverse design features the national symbols of Britannia and Liberty, two iconic allegorical figures representing strength, integrity and freedom. Britannia has symbolised Britain for more than 2,000 years, while Liberty has appeared on US coinage since the 1700s, making this design a fitting tribute to the heritage and values of both nations.
The obverse of the coin bears the uncrowned portrait of His Majesty King Charles III, designed by sculptor Martin Jennings, alongside the coin’s monetary denomination. Struck to bullion standard by The Royal Mint, each coin contains 1 troy ounce of 999.9 fine gold and offers investors the additional benefit of being both VAT free and Capital Gains Tax exempt in the United Kingdom.

Why buy 1 oz gold coins?
- 1 oz gold Britannia and Liberty coins are exempt from VAT in the United Kingdom and are also Capital Gains Tax exempt due to their status as UK legal tender.
- They are an excellent way to divide precious metal holdings into smaller, more flexible portions. While larger gold bars may offer a lower price per gram, they can reduce the liquidity of your investment.
- Purchasing 1-ounce gold bullion coins increases the divisibility and liquidity of your portfolio. Instead of selling a larger gold bar when you need cash, you can sell individual coins as required.
- The 2026 Britannia and Liberty coin also offers strong collector appeal, combining investment-grade gold with a highly symbolic international design.
